Diamond among the Glitter

She was like a flower; beautiful was she, though with no knowledge of the fact;

She was insecure with every word that left her lips; she trembled with every touch;

There was fear in every step she took;  she felt of no value;

No worth; just emptiness; she was a gem among the rubble;

Though she looked through unpolished eyes,

She masked pain as if she had done it for a lifetime, few noticed.

She desired to be like a woman who only appeared in her dreams.

This woman intrigued her, the way this feminine being carried herself fascinated her.

The woman never confused elegance with snobbery,

She was very delicate, her mind was vast and brilliant,

Her eyes had their own vocabulary and she knew the language very well.

She was extremely witty yet shockingly meek.

She did not give consent to the even slightest attempts of inferior thoughts.

She really did forgive and forget; she never held a grudge.

The lady was a dreamer, a visionary, and a doer…

She saw possibility everywhere; opportunity was presented at every turn.

The woman saw the beauty in others and there lied her true beauty.

She was wise beyond her years yet as pure as a dove.

This woman captured the hearts of many but had not the slightest idea.

She was confident in herself but not proud,

No not the slightest heir of arrogance could be found within her.

She was not afraid, what was there to fear?

She was powerful but never said so,

The power was within her and she used it modestly.

She was like a gentle storm, springing up life with every footstep.

The woman began to speak,  the words fluttered off of her tongue,

As the words danced across her face the woman became as radiant as the sun!

Abruptly she awoke,

“How strange,” she thought to herself as she sat in the darkness.

As silence settled in, she gasped and covered her mouth with her hand.

There was a shimmer in her eye and a laughing smile on her face,

Her face was red-hot, and turned a light shade of pink,

And at that very moment she understood it all.

Deep down, she knew it had been her all along!
